THEME: BULL
Bull
“If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull” – W. C. Fields
Bull (noun): a male bovine; an adult uncastrated male domestic bovine. According to Picasso, “a bull is a bull and a horse is a horse”.
Bull (verb): to advance forcefully; to act on in violence. For Hemingway, the bull ring was “the only place where you could see life and death, i.e., violent death” […] [He] was “trying to learn to write, commencing with the simplest things, and of the simplest things of all and the most fundamental is violent death”.
We’re calling for Bull for Issue 1.3. Send up to three of your best to thepickledbody@gmail.com . Please include “Bull” in the subject line of your email submission. Poems must not have been published elsewhere, and should be included in your email as an attachment (word doc/pdf file).
Deadline for submissions: May 15, 2014.
Baffle us with your brilliance or your bull.
Yours,
The Pickled Body
